what Is Montessori &

why should I choose it for my child?

The Montessori method is as new and as relevant today as it was 150 years ago when it was first implemented in Italy.

For us, they key principles are;

  • Independence building,
  • Learning through experiencing and doing,
  • Specific teaching,
  • Recognising the environment as a teacher in its own right,
  • Classrooms are of mixed age, yet still giving different age groups their own space and time.

The Montessori Method of Education, developed by Maria Montessori, is a child-centred educational approach based on scientific observations of children. Montessori’s method has been used for over 150 years in many parts of the world. The Montessori method views the child as the one who is naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. It attempts to develop children physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively. It is an approach to learning which emphasizes active learning, independence, cooperation, and learning in harmony with each child’s unique pace of development. It is an approach to education which emphasizes individuality and independence in learning.
